Gravy

This version uses cornstarch as a thickener and drippings from a roast or turkey.

Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons drippings - from the turkey or roast pan
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups liquid - stock, water, cream, milk

Instructions

  • Put the 2 tablespoons of drippings into a small sauce pan and heat on the stove with medium heat.
  • Mix the 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with about 1/4 cup of cold water, so it dissolves and makes a thin paste.
  • Add the cornstarch mixture to the drippings and whisk to blend
  • Continue to whisk until the mixture starts to thicken, then add a small amount of liquid and whisk again.  Continue to add small amounts of liquid and whisking until you get to the consistency that you want.
