Thanksgiving
Most families have special recipes that are only served at Thanksgiving. Others have special recipes that must be served at Thanksgiving. Through the years the following menu has evolved at Kayla’s doghouse:
- Appetizers
- olives
- pickles
- Cranberry Sauce – homemade
- Cranberry Sauce – canned
- Mashed Potatoes and gravy
- French fried onions and greenbean casserole
- Dinner rolls – store bought
- Waldorf Salad
- Broccoli Salad
- Rice pilaf
- Roast Turkey
- Pumpkin Pie
- Apple Pie
The pies are usually made the night before as is the homemade cranberry sauce. It is good to get the pies out of the way along with their mess instead of getting overwhelmed on the big day. The cranberry sauce soaks up flavors sitting in the fridge overnight. This is also a good time to open a bottle of wine for yourself or have a couple of beers to prepare for the onslaught of relatives.
